Walden University is a private for-profit university located in Minnesota. Founded in 1970, Walden is based in the Mill District in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Walden is owned by Laureate Education Inc. and part of an online-based and network campus. Located in Washington Avenue South, Minneapolis, it was initially founded in Naples, Florida to provide learning for working people to pursue doctoral degrees.
Walden University offers school of study for Master of Science, Education Specialist, Master of Business Administration, and Doctor of Education. There are also Bachelor of Science, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Public Health. Student may also choose Doctor of Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in many of academic fields. There are Colleges in Walden University including Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and College of Health Sciences. But students could choose College of Undergraduate Studies and College of Management and Technology.
Since 1990, a regional accreditation agency, a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Higher Learning Commission accredited Walden University while the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education accredited Richard W. Riley School of Education and Leadership. There are also many Walden’s degree programs that are individually accredited. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accredited the Master of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs, and Walden University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice. It is a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs accredited The Counseling program of M.S. in Mental Health.
